[Openspace] Using KNN weights

Hi,

I read about the problem that KNN weights can pose in GeoDa. The FAQ on the
website suggests using R to make the weights symmetric. I've downloaded and
installed R but am unable to read in the .GWT file that GeoDa creates. Can
anyone describe the exact process after creating the weights file in GeoDA?
How do I go about reading in the weights file in R, making it symmetric, and
then exporting it back to .GAL or GWT format? Thanks in advance.
