I used GeoDa to create Thiessen polygons using a point shapefile of
elementary school locations inside Lancaster County, Nebraska. I used
a Lancaster County polygon shapefile for the bounding box reference.
I used the bounding box reference option because I thought that the
resultant Thiessen polygon shapefile would line up exactly to the
Lancaster County shapefile. However, the Thiessen polygon shapefile
extends outside the reference box (Lancaster County) (refer to the
attachment "thiessen2.jpg").
Is it okay if the Thiessen polygon output file does not line up exactly
with the shapefile used as the reference box?
Btw- I defined the spatial reference of the new Thiessen polygon layer
using the define projection tool in ArcToolbox before overlaying it
with the Lancaster County shapefile. Also the Thiessen polygon layer
created in GeoDa lines up nicely with the Thiessen polygon layer I
created in ArcInfo.
Thanks~
