[Openspace] opening my shape file

the first thing to do is check the format of your ID variable - it needs not to have decimal places.

Another easy thing to do is go back in ArcMap, open the table, add a new variable (called NID or something), and set its value equal to "FID + 1" - FID is the internal numbering system for ArcGIS, and it starts with 0, so you have to add one.

Anyway - I've had those problems in GeoDa before - I think it's just a formatting issue, and when in doubt, create a new id.
