Mitigating Disaster and Terrorism Impacts to Critical Infrastructure
|
Project Description This is a collaborative project involving researchers at ASU, Indiana University and the University of Missouri focused on the development and application of spatial optimization approaches to support planning and management of network infrastructure. At ASU, the project is directed by Dr. Alan Murray and encompasses management and processing of spatial information associated with network based infrastructure as well as the development of mathematical models designed to address vulnerability issues. This includes mathematical optimization model extensions to account for temporal change as well as recovery planning. Funding This project, currently in its second year, is funded by the National Science Foundation (BCS-0720989) through the University of Missouri. |
This image illustrates a developed spatial decision support system. The system supports network interdiction management and mitigation through the use of graphic and spatial displays, combined with optimization based techniques. Potential disruption scenarios are identified and can be interactively explored. (from Snediker, Murray and Matisziw, 2008) |
